Hydra is the high-performance computing cluster that ORIS provides to the researchers at the Smithsonian. Hydra was started at the Smithsonian Astrophysics Observatory (SAO) and was moved the Smithsonian's Herndon Data Center. The use of Hydra for astrophysics research continues, with use for biodiversity genomics increasing. Hydra now includes high-memory nodes and has been expanded to add GPUs and SSDs capabilities. This resource is aimed at use by any researcher at the Smithsonian who needs high-performance computing in their work.
